Meetings of Provinces are Province Councils.
The national meeting is the Grand Chapter Meeting. Kappa Alpha Psi does not have “Honorary Members.” Membership is conferred by initiation only. If the honor is granted, the Laurel Wreath will be presented with appropriate ceremonies at the next following meeting of the Grand Chapter. Should any member achieve extraordinary distinction which is national or international in scope, any local chapter or Province may recommend him for the Laurel Wreath to the Laurel Wreath Commission which processes these recommendations. The Laurel Wreath is the highest honor that may be bestowed upon a member. The official flower is the red carnation. The official colors of Kappa Alpha Psi are crimson and cream. Lee were the other Founders and each played a role, more important than was realized, in making the organization a success. Blakemore, Paul Caine, George Edmunds, Guy L. Elder Watson Diggs was the guiding genius in writing the Ritual and establishing the organization. The original name was Kappa Alpha Nu, but by official Proclamation the name of the Fraternity was changed to Kappa Alpha Psi on April 15, 1915. GENERAL INFORMATION Kappa Alpha Psi was founded at Indiana University on January 5, 1911, and incorporated as a National Greek Letter College Fraternity under the laws of the State of Indiana on April 15, 1911.
